Raw mint chocolate brownie hearts (only 4 ingredients!)

These might just be a serious threat to chocolate. They taste exactly like a mint chocolate brownie except the texture is like fudge and they can be eaten without any worry of a sugar crash. Raw, vegan, gluten free, sugar free, full of healthy fats, give you great energy- their credentials embarrass the majority of the confectionary aisle. 

This recipe is a variation of my 4-ingredient "cookies", and combine nuts and dates to make the versatile base for all kind of flavours. I used a raw cocoa (100% organic cocoa), which you can find anywhere, is frightfully cheap and because there's no sugar or preservatives added, makes a valuable ingredient. Furthermore its intense chocolatey flavour means you need so little.

You must make these, if only to be surprized by how delicious and moreish these healthy choc-o-like brownies can be.

Makes half a dozen

1 cup pitted dates
1 cup raw almonds
1 tbsp raw cocoa powder (make sure cocoa is the only ingredient)
1 tsp peppermint extract
1 tsp of water


1. Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and blitz until smooth. Scrape down the sides when you need to and have faith, it will take a while to get the right doughy consistency. I was skeptical when I first tried it, now I wait patiently for it to take its form.

2. Squish it out with your hands until it's an inch thick sheet. Cut into hearts with a cutter or just a knife as I did.

3. You could put some chocolate chips on top, or press some nuts in to decorate them. Or make them into truffles...

Either way, enjoy them!
